ANNOUNCEMENT

On the path of overthrow against war and exploitation.

Everyone to the strike of May 1st, 2026

At the Patras Labor Center, 10:30 AM

We, the workers of today, honor May Day—the struggles and sacrifices of our class for a life without wars, poverty, and exploitation! We draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the heroes of major class struggles: the fallen workers of Chicago, the heroic struggles of the tobacco workers of Thessaloniki, May 1936, and the 200 communists executed in Kaisariani in 1944.

We take the baton from the great struggles of the previous period and continue. We give our own response to the criminal policy of the government and the other parties, of capital, the EU, and NATO. The imperialist war in Iran and Lebanon by the USA, Israel, and their allies, the war in Ukraine, and the multiplying war fronts across the globe, along with rapid developments, are leading toward the possibility of a generalized global imperialist war.

It has once again been proven that “windows of dialogue” and temporary ceasefires do not lead to the end of war, but instead impose an imperialist “peace” on peoples at gunpoint.

The US–NATO forces must leave our country, and there must be no thought of nuclear weapons in Araxos. Our people have the power to put obstacles in the way, since until 2001 Araxos hosted nuclear weapons, which were removed under the pressure of the labor and popular movement.

Enough is enough! We take inspiration from the major strike of dockworkers in 20 Mediterranean ports on February 6, as well as the seafarers’ strike on March 5, who declared that “they do not work for war.” These show the way and the possibility for workers to win. They point to the path of overthrow, with our country outside the EU and NATO and the people masters of their own land.

No fear, no complacency! We have the power to impose our mark on developments through organized action. With class forces at the forefront, we strengthen unions and build our alliance with struggling people in the cities and countryside and with poor farmers, on the path to overthrowing the system of exploitation that generates poverty, wars, and displacement. In the competition among business groups, it is always the workers who pay the price—both in times of peace and in times of war, as we see with the dozens of war fronts across the planet.

Let the common struggle of Greek and migrant workers grow stronger for work and life with rights, against the anti-people policies of governments and the interests of big employers.

On Sunday, May 3rd at 7:00 PM, the opening of our union’s offices in Nea Manolada will take place, along with an internationalist solidarity event.

This is how we will continue:

With even greater mass participation in the union.

With organization in the workplaces!

We honor Workers’ May Day—strengthening the struggle of our class for:

• Immediate provision of proper accommodation and facilities with dignified living conditions for hundreds of migrant workers.

• Immediate issuance of residence and work documents.

• Equal rights for Greek and migrant workers—in wages, insurance, benefits, and health and safety. Decent wages for all workers in agriculture, processing, and packaging. 5 days – 8 hours – 40-hour week.

• Free access to healthcare and medical check-ups for all migrant workers. Strengthen local health services with doctors and nurses for everyone.

• Mandatory collective labor agreements with wage increases.

• Health and safety measures in workplaces.
